Ajusting the timing for DDR home versions for PS2

Beitrag von T_Bone_X_Zeo »

Sorry if I'm posting in English.

I've read somewhere here on Vier Pfeile that someone posted codes to get the perfect window (cs timing) ajusted so it'd feel like the arcade perfect window (arcade timing).

Does anyone know if it's possible to patch the game through UltraEdit and if it's possible could you post some info on how to do this?

It would be great if you guys could help me out. Once again, sorry for posting in English. I just can't find information on this on other forums.

Never used these, but they certainly look like GameShark/ActionReplay codes. So you actually don´t patch a backup of the game, but instead you patch memory prior to booting.
If you don´t own a GS/AR my guess is you´re out of luck. Megagames.com hosted a free version of the GS/AR called bootreplay, but it was for psx only. Don´t know if there already is a free version for PS2 games as well.

I got the codes from this topic in the Hall of Fame forum.

I guess I'll try to use the codes with Action Replay somehow. Thanks for your help :)

I still hope there is a way to patch the entire game so that you don't have to use Action Replay evrytime you want to play your game, just like when you patch a PSX DDR game to sync up on PAL systems.

Well, to patch a games image, you need to know where to apply the values. Actually I don´t have a clue how to find the values in the image. With the apropriate hardware from GS/AR you can create your own codes by comparing memory values - but finding the patch spot in the image...? Well, that´s a really though one I´d guess.
For PAL-Speed-fixing I wrote an article. It was based on a document I found somewhere on the net, don´t know where anymore. But I never found out how the guy who made the initial document, found the unique hex-pattern to search for, to fixate the spot which contains the bytes that are to be patched.

Yesterday I found a patch for DDR Extreme CS that unlocks some hidden stepcharts, let's you access some other modifyers and gives the game arcade timing.

To apply it just make an ISO of your copy of DDR Extreme and patch it with a PPF patcher. When it's patched just burn your backup.
